Why I Regret Using Social Media

So Ive been away from my phone lately mainly because I work but partly because its a big time consumer. When I grab my phone I usually look through my text messages, my reminders, and then social media notifications. Ill decide whether to post or to just look at other peoples posts and like a few pictures. But sometimes I feel like Im watching my phone constantly like its a child. If I don't reply back fast enough will people continue to talk to me and if I don't reply back at all people will think somethings wrong with me.

Even though I really don't care what people think it is professional to answer someone back in a timely manner because if I was texting someone I would want them to reply to my messages asap.

So I came up with this system. Instead of looking at my phone every 20 minutes. I would get my work done and check it whenever I had free time for certain times of the day.









From experience I know that people usually text me in the morning to send a friendly 'good morning' text or they will text me towards the end of the day around the evening when they are mostly free. Sometimes Ill get texts throughout the day at random times but telling everybody that Im busy isn't going to work, but since everybody has a job nowadays it gives me a chance to do what I need to do at work. When I have free time that would be the time to answer any texts or calls.

When I was in school I often picked up my phone out of boredom because of what the teacher was talking about or because I had messages. Phones are truly distractions and I soon realized that I wasn't paying attention to what the teacher said.

Bad news

This was bad news for me because my grades were suffering. My advice is to limit the time that you spend on your phone and give social media a break.

1. Social media is a huge time consumer and it used to take up way too much time of my day. As a result of giving up social media I was able to accomplish a lot of my small goals throughout the day.

2. Yes people may be mad at me because I took forever to respond but its their fault because I let them know that Im usually busy certain times of the day in advance. My work is way more important then a text message and I will continue to do things the way that I feel is best for me.

3. Before I couldn't even find the time to blog anymore and now Im sitting here actually doing it. Im able to fulfill goals such as blogging or sending school documents or running everyday errands.

Most people can't live without their phones or social media and Im telling you its not that important. In my opinion I feel social media is an invasion of privacy and the only reason why I use it because its a great way to network and to keep in touch with the people I know or used to talk to. But social media has its flaws and cons just like everything else.





There are so many bad things and situations that people get put in to just because they use Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, etc. Bullying happens a lot and cyberbullying leads to many suicides amongst teens and young adults. It all needs to stop and I believe social media is a big factor in that. But anyways I can't tell people what to do. All I can do is tell you how terrible social media really is.

Think twice the next time you pick up your phone!

See it takes hard work to get on top and I can never stop
If I wanna be the greatest Im gonna have to grind just to say I made it
People rob and steal and try to live fast
but what they fail to realize is that
living fast won't get you past your competition
You have to stay humble and never try to mimic another person
stand out and do your best or you'll either be dead or in jail like the rest

Being a African American female is hard
In our society we get criticized for not being up to par
Being an African American male is even harder
They get looked at for going even farther than a caucasian
Some people say black lives matter but not on every occasion
Instead of putting each other down we need to come together
Whether it takes 6 years or more we can do better

Love won't get you killed but being naive will
so always watch your back because you may get robbed like a Kardashian and thats a fact
Love is not easy to find these days
but it pays to be cautious
because you will never know when someone will stab you in the back
like a pregnant women after an abortion
Peace isn't inevitable but love conquers all

So I will continue to hold my head up and hope in todays society that I go far

First Day At My New Job!

Starting a new job is always exciting because your thinking about who your going to be working with  and when you will be getting paid. You have an idea of what you will be doing from the interview but you really have no clue until you start working the job. Currently I work in Manhattan and I have a total of two jobs. Being a college student is not easy and not necessarily fun either. Its not fun because of all the loans that you have to take out or the balance that you have to pay at the end of the semester, if you didn't take out loans. Books and school supplies aren't even included in all the expenses that we have as college students. Not to mention its always good to have money in your pocket just in cases you want to hang out with your friends.

Being broke is not a option for me and with all the money that I have saved this summer I will be good for this upcoming semester. I have plans of getting a car and saving up to move out and by my own apartment. My new job has made it possible for me to achieve my goals and to work towards my future. One of the things that I enjoy about my new job is the freedom that they give us. Basically we get to work the hours that we want to and they provide us with free lunch which is a plus. Ill work as office assistant which means that I spend the day filling and organizing cabinets and making sure invoices are right. It is a tedious job because you have to pay attention to detail and any mistake made can threaten your job.

Tomorrow I will be working again and I can't wait to get back to work so I can save up some more money. Wish me luck!
